Meet Mr. Tyrone Marshall

Get to know one of our newest staff members, Mr. Marshall! He has joined Jesuit Academy as our Student, Family, & Community Engagement Specialist.

"My name is Tyrone Marshall. I’m born and raised in North Omaha, NE. I attended Wakonda Elementary, McMillan Junior High, and I’m a proud graduate of Northwest High School. I grew up in the Myott Apartments as a young kid until the age of 12. My younger years were spent learning from those before me and the ones after me. I left Omaha in 2003 to pursue my collegiate basketball dreams. My first 2 years were spent at Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA. I finished my basketball career and graduated from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA.

During my summer breaks, I would come back and work summer jobs and one was the YMCA teen center where I began my work with younger youth in our community. I stayed there after I graduated for another year serving my community. From there, I went on to serve as an Assistant Family Teacher at Boystown. I spent over a year there before being awarded an opportunity at the Urban League of Nebraska. I started at the Urban League as an at-risk specialist for young teens. I spent 11 years at the Urban League of Nebraska. I was promoted to Director of Education and Youth Development during my last few years at the Urban League. I left the Urban league of Nebraska in 2018 and took a Behavioral Intervention position at Westside Community Schools (West Campus). I spent 6 years there under the leadership of Ericka Vaughan (Principal at West Campus).

I’m a proud father of 2 beautiful daughters (Ty’Aira and Ty’Auri Marshall). They are 15 and 10. I’m engaged to their mother, LaQuisha Workman-Thomas. Learning and supporting them is a part of my journey as well and would not be where I’m at without their support. I’m fully committed to helping kids in my community to the best of my abilities. My community is my passion and I’m grateful for everyone that serves it. Thank you Jesuit for trusting in me to serve these young men and the opportunity."
