Good news to share! At a robotics competition this past weekend, the Jesuit Academy team took home the Excellence Award, the highest award presented in the VEX IQ programs. The recipient is a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high quality robotics program, is a team that excels in many areas, and is a shining example of dedication, devotion, hard work and teamwork. We are so proud! Two students represented Jesuit Academy at the competition, but all students participating as part of the Robotics Club were instrumental in building the robot, completing the research project, and completing the design notebook. The team research project was on driverless cars. Students created slides and presented to the judges. During the competition, Jesuit Academy students were recognized for helping other teams out, several who were competing for the first time. On one occasion, a participating team had a robot malfunction right before the beginning of a round and the Jesuit Academy students jumped right in to help. Men for Others! As winners of the Excellence Award, Jesuit Academy has been invited to Nationals, which will be held in Council Bluffs in April. The event spans three days and will cost $395 to participate. We are currently seeking a sponsor for the tournament. If interested, we’d love to chat! Please call 402-346-4464 ext. 20. To celebrate Catholic Schools Week, The Pancake Man visited Jesuit Academy today for lunch. Only a few pancakes were dropped as staff and students gave their best effort to catch flying pancakes! Students also enjoyed magician Joe Cole's magic tricks, the 8th grade Mass, and the staff-student volleyball game.
A very big thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Jesuit Academy Christmas Program yesterday! Please enjoy the following video from the 4th and 5th grade recorder performance.
Merry Christmas! On Tuesday, Jesuit Academy students in grades 4, 5, and 6 visited the Joslyn Art Museum for a tour of the Native American and Western Art Collection. While there, they were also able to see the exhibit currently on display, Marks of Genius: 100 Extraordinary Drawings from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Thank you to the Joslyn Art Museum and the wonderful docents who led the tours! Throughout the school year, the Creighton University EDGE Program works with students at Jesuit Academy on a variety of topic areas. Meeting once per semester with each grade, topics include study habits, a strength and skills assessment, preparing for high school, and wellness. Today's topic for the 4th grade class was the how, when, and why of study skills. As part of the activity, each student receives a study buddy teddy bear. Thank you to the EDGE Program for their partnership and support! At Jesuit Academy, grandparents are very important to us. To celebrate the role they play in the lives of students at Jesuit Academy, we annually host the Grandparents Luncheon. On Friday, we celebrated this special day with a delicious Thanksgiving lunch for students and their families. We're so grateful for all of the support our students receive! Please note that all photos will be sent to the addresses listed on the envelopes that attendees filled out. It's Men for Others lunch day! These young men were selected as the Men for Others winners during the fourth quarter of last school year and the first quarter of this school year - one young man won in both! Students enjoyed a delicious lunch at Mama's Pizza Omaha. We are very proud of the work these students are doing every day at Jesuit Academy. Congratulations!
One young man in each grade is recognized each quarter as the Men for Others recipient. The recipient portrays a strong commitment to the Graduate at Graduation principles of being Loving, Open to Growth, Religious, Intellectually Competent, and Committed to doing Justice. For this year's Family Fun Night, Jesuit Academy went bowling at West Lanes. Over 100 people joined in on the fun. We can't wait until next year! Jesuit Academy has formed a Robotics Club and is participating in competitions around the city. We are excited to see where this new opportunity takes our students. Please meet the founding members of the Club! |
