Jesuit Academy Students Recognized at Creighton's MLK Celebration

On January 21, students from Jesuit Academy were recognized at a Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on the Creighton University campus.  This is the 10th year the Creighton University Martin Luther King Jr. Committee has involved the Adopt-a-School partners in a poster and essay contest designed for fourth and fifth graders. Students from Conestoga, Jesuit Academy, Kellom and Liberty Elementary, participated by expressing their thoughts about the continuing impact of Dr. King in the community through essays and posters. Students were asked to submit entires on the theme of the 2013 celebration, “Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people.” They were asked to answer the question, “What can I do?”

Fourth grade students Jamari Richards, Lee Brown and Jordan Skipper were honored for their artful renditions of what they can do to prevent nonviolence.  Fifth grade students Carl Brown, Brenden McGary, Willie Kent, Nasire Perry, Isiaah Clark were honored for their writing skills.  Carl Brown was chosen as the overall-winner in the essay category.  Student posters and essays were proudly displayed at the ceremony and they also received a certificate noting their honorable accomplishments.
