Jesuit Academy Students Explore Science

Students in the seventh grade science class recently finished a semester long study on the different body systems and how they work with the dissection of fetal pigs.  The unit, which started in November, worked its way through sections on the digestive, muscular, skeletal, cardio-respiratory, nervous, and reproductive systems.  “The fetal pig anatomy is comparable to that of humans, so it gave us an opportunity to see a better perspective of the systems and their parts,” said teacher Mike Mansour.  Prior to the dissection, students received thorough instruction and safety raining on the lab instruments and their proper use during the experiment.  Materials for the dissection were paid for by a grant from the AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association).
